Arrow International, Inc., Introduces Pressure Injectable PICC Kit
Kit equips clinicians with comprehensive risk-reduction and safety components.
Reading, PA, September 13, 2006—Arrow International, the world’s leading provider of central venous catheter (CVC) products, has introduced the Arrow Pressure Injectable PICC Kit. Arrow debuted the new kit at the 20th Annual Association for Vascular Access (AVA) Conference in Indianapolis, IN. The kit’s extensive componentry enables clinicians to provide life-saving care, including pressure injection, while complying with key regulatory recommendations and guidelines set by CDC, IHI, JCAHO, OSHA and other relevant regulatory and advisory bodies.
“Like physicians and nurses, we’re driven by the credo ‘First, do no harm,’” said Rick Eagle, Vice President, Venous Access, Arrow International. “So to help clinicians stay ahead of infection and sharps-related injuries, we’ve included maximal barrier precautions equipment and sharps safety components in the Arrow Pressure Injectable PICC Kit. The PICC itself is engineered to reduce the risk of thrombosis while permitting pressure injection.”
Arrow’s Pressure Injectable PICC is indicated for short- or long-term peripheral access to the central venous system for intravenous therapy, blood sampling, infusion and power injection of contrast media. The Arrow Pressure Injectable PICC Kit is available in both interventional radiologist and nursing versions.
“Institutions and caregivers are taking patient risk and user safety more seriously than ever,” says Eagle, “and it’s our job to give them the tools they need to deal with these issues. Considering the show’s theme—‘Changing Paradigms: Patient Safety and Quality Improvement’—and the number of sessions on subjects like maximal barrier precautions and reducing catheter-related bloodstream infections, we felt it was important to bring the new Pressure Injectable PICC Kit to AVA and contribute to the dialogue.”
